Leadership Practices Inventory
All students will participate in the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) at no additional cost—once at the beginning of the program and once before graduation.
The LPI is a highly effective “360 degree” professional assessment, based on 30 years of empirical research by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, co-authors of the best-selling The Leadership Challenge. The 20-minute, 30-item online instrument measures the frequency of leadership behaviors on a 10-point scale. The assessment is “360 degree” because it solicits feedback from those who work with and around you. Therefore, you gain perspective into how you see yourself as a leader, how others view you, and what actions you can take to improve your effectiveness.
Students will take the inventory as part of the Personal and Vocational Assessment course and the Leadership Capstone. This unique strategy allows students and faculty to assess real growth in leadership skills across the duration of the degree program.
